Heyaa! This was very useful information you just posted! I'd like to take the opportunity to say Thank you! This article of yours just wraps it all, and I've finally made up my mind thanks to you!
I got my first dslr last summer, and now I'm having trouble choosing my first flashgun for some proper indoor shooting. So I was looking for alternatives for the Canon speedlites, and found the same yongnuo model you mention above, the 560 manual! (was wondering if I should care if my first gun is TTL or not) So now I've made up my mind! It will be this cheap, yet famous for getting the job done gun! Cheers man, rly helpful stuff!

Hi Gerard. I totally think that the 35mm prime (the f1.8 AF-S) will serve you better on the D90, especially since you already have most of the range covered with the 18-105. It's much sharper and much much lighter.

Very interesting. I have a D90 and I'm looking on research on a new prime lens. I was thinking the Nikon 35mm prime but also saw a few recommend the Tamron 17-50. I wanted something a bit flexible since I'll be taking mainly travel shots but wanted something sharper than my 18-105mm kit lens. I'll be carrying my 18-105mm regardless. So you'd still recommend the prime after all this?

I absolutely love this, and I agree that the photograph looks like a painting.
Please continue doing works like this, and perhaps even extend it into a whole series. I'm sure I speak for many people when I say that I would love to see more of this.
